How do I handle difficult students?

Occasional challenging student interactions are a reality in any teaching environment. Fluent Forward provides tools to help you handle these professionally.
During a lesson
- ·If a student is disrespectful, calmly set expectations at the start of the lesson.
- ·You can mute a student if they are causing disruption.
- ·If a situation escalates, you can end the lesson early and report it immediately.
After a lesson
- 1Go to Tutor Dashboard → Report an issue.
- 2Select the lesson and describe the incident.
- 3Our Trust & Safety team reviews all reports within 24 hours.
- 4You can also block a student from booking future lessons with you.
Blocking a student
- 1Go to the student's profile or the lesson record.
- 2Click the three-dot menu → "Block student".
- 3Confirm. The student can no longer book or message you.
Tutors are never penalized for ending lessons early due to student misconduct. Please report all incidents so we can protect the community.
