How should I handle student cancellations as a tutor?

Students can cancel up to 12 hours before a lesson without penalty. Late cancellations are compensated.

Understanding the cancellation policy helps you set expectations with students and protects your time.

Student cancellations

  • ·12+ hours notice: the lesson slot is freed and you can rebook it. No compensation.
  • ·Less than 12 hours notice: you receive 50% of the lesson rate as a late-cancellation fee.
  • ·No-show: you receive 100% of the lesson rate.

Tutor-initiated cancellations

  • ·12+ hours notice: no penalty to you. Full credit returned to student.
  • ·Less than 12 hours notice: your reliability score is impacted. Student receives a discount token.
  • ·More than 3 late cancellations in a month may trigger a review of your account.

Communicate proactively. If you need to cancel, message the student directly and explain — students appreciate the courtesy and may rebook rather than seek a different tutor.
